Timberwolf
The Timberwolf area is located adjacent to the #17 hole of Timberwolf golf course. It
is the highest climbing cliff within Sudbury limits and provides a good mix of climbing for beginners to intermediates.
However, it's location directly next to the golf course makes it a little bit tricky to gain access during
golfing season.
Drive north on Barrydowne road until it meets Maley Drive. Drive through the intersection and park at the
end of the Dirt road. Walk north on the dirt road until an obvious trail on the right leads towards the golf
course. Follow the trail which leads to the golf cart road, and will eventually lead to a cliff on the left.
Beware of golfers, and especially golfers teeing off. Since you can find many golf balls near the base of the
cliff, helmets might not be a bad idea. Please be respectful of the golfers and maintain proper etiquette during
tee-offs (don't move or make sound when somebody is shooting).
The cliff has about 5 climbs set up about 15 meters high, with variations possible for each at ranging in difficuly from 5.5 to 5.12?.
There are bolts on the top of the cliff for setting up top ropes and bolts will be going up periodically for leading throughout the
spring and summer of '08. Access to the top of the cliff is gained by an easy hike on the left of the cliff. By far the best of the
cliffs in the area for beginners, both for climbing and learning to rappel.
